VOCAL WARM UPS: For Female Voices

Often, female singers find it easier to start their warm-up routine on an “e” vowel.

(Cover of THANK U, NEXT – Ariana Grande)

The “e” helps in finding a pure and thin sound while keeping the airflow constant.

After running a melodic phrase on an “e”, you may either do the same exercise on another vowel, or change it completely.

Remember that to run a warm-up exercises, you first start on a low range, then find your way up in chromatic ascent (by going half a step every time), then going back down to where you started.

Don’t forget to start soft and without pushing the sound out.

Allow the airflow to guide the voice through.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep you body active.

I personally get physical before singing by either running/biking or working out at the gym.
